Best stay in Ireland! Clare is warm and friendly, has a fascinating life story, and her house is stunningly beautiful. The views are everything advertised and hiking trails down to beaches, monasteries, and forests filled with fairy houses begin literally across the street. And she makes a mean breakfast to boot–including delicious veggie omelets if you don’t eat meat. Since you never know what kind of weather you will get in this part of Ireland (we were there in mid-June and were treated to both sunshine and storms), we highly recommend hanging out here for as many nights as your itinerary allows–it’s the perfect launching point for exploring the Ring of Kerry on nice days (and, because it’s a little out of the way, one that tour buses seemed to avoid), and a cosy place to relax when the weather isn’t behaving. Clare has endless cups of warm tea waiting for you; gently insists you make yourself feel at home in her kitchen, dining room, and beautiful living room; and worst comes to worst you end up spending lovely days chatting with her and her husband and their inevitably interesting guests. We are definitely coming back here on our next trip to Ireland!
